Overall research focus in our laboratory is to understand the mechanisms of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and develop novel therapeutic strategies to either limit the disease or promote tissue repair. Our approach involves use of molecular, cellular and physiological techniques including use of relevant animal models of cardiac disease, diabetes, sepsis, lung fibrosis and depression.

Dr. Prasanna’s laboratory is located in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, a joint department within the UAB Heersink School of Medicine and School of Engineering.
